As the world becomes interconnected, the ways we relate to and learn about one another (and the rules about what we share) are changing. This was the inspiration for TEDGlobal 2012: Radical Openness. The TED team asked us to interpret this theme and create conference branding and collateral. To inform my strategy and design around their theme, I leveraged the idea of Pandora’s box as a representation of Radical Openness. The impact and consequences of our rapidly developing global and digital world are still unknown–there is much to hope for as well as fear. The design focused on the dichotomy present in the vast potential, as well as danger and uncertainty, inherent in the exploration of these new frontiers of openness.
